Quran Rich built ALTER Q in the narrow space between fiction and memory, where a true thing and an invented thing start to look the same in the dark.

ALTER Q is fiction, but it was assembled from fragments of a real life: the heartbreaks, conversations, turning points, and silences that lasted too long. None of it is told exactly the way it happened. Instead, it was reimagined through an alternate reality, a version of events where different choices lead to different outcomes, and where one decision can split a single life into two very different people.

The events are fictional. The questions underneath them are not.

Who are you when the mask starts working? What happens when the version of you built to protect you begins replacing the version that needed protecting?

Quwan did not create a villain because he wanted to hurt people. He created protection, and the world taught that protection how to become famous.

ALTER Q is built around original music. Selected chapters have their own tracks, written and recorded as part of the story, so the songs Quwan makes inside the book are songs you can hear. Listen on the Music page.
